Business Email with a .gy Domain: Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho or Free Forwarding
An email address at your own domain, like sales@yourbusiness.gy, looks far more established than a free Gmail or Yahoo address on quotes, invoices and tenders. Here are your options with a .gy domain from Register.gy, and how to set each one up.
Your options at a glance
| Option | Best for | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Free email forwarding | Getting started: mail to info@yourbusiness.gy arrives in the inbox you already use | Free with Register.gy DNS |
| Google Workspace | Teams that like Gmail, Google Drive and Meet | Paid to Google, per user |
| Microsoft 365 | Teams that use Outlook, Word and Excel | Paid to Microsoft, per user |
| Zoho Mail | Small businesses that want low-cost mailboxes | Paid to Zoho (check Zoho’s current plans) |
Option 1: Free email forwarding
Forwarding creates addresses at your domain without a separate mailbox. Messages sent to the address are delivered to the inbox you choose.
- Log in to your Client Area and open Website, email & DNS under your domain. Forwarding needs Register.gy DNS; if you’re not using it yet, click Use free Register.gy DNS first.
- On the Email tab, under Free email forwarding, type the address you want (for example
info) and the inbox to forward to, then click Add. - The first time you use an inbox, you’ll receive a one-time verification email at that inbox. Click the link and forwarding starts.
You can add up to 20 forwarding addresses per domain. Forwarding receives mail only; to send email from your .gy address, use one of the mailbox options below.
Option 2: Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or Zoho in one click
- Sign up with the provider and add your .gy domain in their admin console. If they ask you to verify the domain, copy the verification value they show (for example
google-site-verification=…orMS=ms…). - In your Register.gy Client Area, open Website, email & DNS, then the Email tab, and choose your provider. Paste the verification value if you have one.
- Click Set up. We add the provider’s mail (MX) and SPF records, and a basic DMARC record if you don’t have one.
- Go back to the provider’s admin console and click “Verify” or “Check records”. Mail usually starts flowing within minutes.
Setting up a provider replaces any previous email records on the domain, so only switch when you’re ready to move.
The records we add
| Provider | MX | SPF (TXT on @) |
|---|---|---|
| Google Workspace | smtp.google.com (priority 1) | v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all |
| Microsoft 365 | yourdomain-gy.mail.protection.outlook.com (priority 0), plus an autodiscover CNAME | v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com -all |
| Zoho Mail | mx.zoho.com (10), mx2.zoho.com (20), mx3.zoho.com (50) | v=spf1 include:zohomail.com ~all |
Make sure your email is delivered
- SPF tells other mail servers who may send email for your domain. It’s added automatically.
- DMARC tells them what to do with mail that fails checks. We add a safe starting record,
v=DMARC1; p=none, if you don’t have one. - DKIM signs your outgoing mail. Your provider gives you a DKIM record in its admin console; add it on the DNS records tab, then switch DKIM on with the provider.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get a free email address with my .gy domain?
Yes, with forwarding. Register.gy includes free email forwarding for domains on Register.gy DNS, so mail to addresses like info@yourbusiness.gy arrives in the inbox you already use. To send from your .gy address, you’ll need a mailbox from a provider such as Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or Zoho.
Will setting up email affect my website?
No. Email setup only changes your mail records (MX and SPF). Your website records stay as they are.
How long does email setup take?
If your domain already uses Register.gy DNS, the records are live within minutes. Your provider may take a little longer to verify the domain.
