Renewing your .gy domain before it expires matters: once a domain lapses, your website and email stop working, and eventually anyone can register the name. This guide walks you through renewing on Register.gy.
Step 1: Open your renewal link or Client Area
Click the Renew button in your reminder email, or log in to your Client Area with the email address you used to register.
Step 2: Find your domain
Your domains are listed with their expiry dates. Click Renew next to the one you want.
Step 3: Choose how long
Renew for 1, 2 or 3 years. Renewing for longer means fewer reminders and less risk of the domain lapsing.
Step 4: Pay
Pay by credit or debit card (US dollars, via Stripe) or MMG Mobile Money (Guyana dollars). Your payment is recorded straight away. The renewal is applied at the .gy registry within one business day, and we email you the new expiry date.
Renewal prices
| Term | Register (MMG) | Register (card) | Renew (MMG) | Renew (card) |

Same price for .gy, .com.gy, .co.gy, .net.gy and .org.gy. MMG prices are in Guyana dollars; card prices are in US dollars.
When should you renew?
Renew any time before the expiry date. We email reminders 60, 30 and 7 days before expiry, and again if the domain expires, so keep your contact email up to date.
What happens if a .gy domain expires?
After the expiry date, the domain stops working and goes through a short grace period, then a redemption period, before it is released. If your business runs on that domain (email, website, customers), contact us immediately: recovery is often possible but can cost more than a normal renewal.
How much does it cost to renew a .gy domain?
At Register.gy, renewal is GYD 10,500 (MMG) or US$49 (card) per year, the same for every .gy extension.
Can I renew a .gy domain that has already expired?
Often, yes, during the grace or redemption period. Contact support straight away. After that period ends, the domain is released and anyone can register it.
Will I get a reminder before my .gy domain expires?
Yes. Register.gy emails renewal reminders 60, 30 and 7 days before expiry to the email on your account.
