After registering your .gy domain, you need to point it at your website and email. You have two options: use free Register.gy DNS and set everything up in one click, or use your own nameservers from a host or DNS provider.
Option 1: Free Register.gy DNS (recommended)
Every Register.gy domain can use our free DNS hosting, powered by Cloudflare’s global network. It’s fast, reliable and includes one-click setup for website builders and email providers.
Step 1: Log in to your Client Area
Go to register.gy/client-area and log in with the email address you used to register. We email you a secure login link; there’s no password to remember.
Step 2: Open “Website, email & DNS”
Click Website, email & DNS under your domain. If the domain uses other nameservers today, click Use free Register.gy DNS. We copy your existing records first so nothing breaks, then point the domain at our DNS within one business day.
Step 3: Connect your website and email
Use the Website tab to connect Lovable, Vercel, Shopify, Netlify, Squarespace, GitHub Pages or any host in one click, and the Email tab for Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho or free forwarding. You can also add or edit any record in the DNS records tab. Changes go live within minutes.
Option 2: Use your own nameservers
If your website host or DNS provider gave you nameservers, you can use them instead.
- Log in to your Client Area.
- Click Change Nameservers under your domain.
- Enter at least two nameservers (up to six) and submit.
We apply nameserver changes at the .gy registry within one business day and email you when it’s done. After that, most visitors see the change within a few hours; allow up to 48 hours worldwide.
Common nameserver choices
- Your web host (HostGator, cPanel hosts, SiteGround and others), for example
ns1.yourhost.com. Simple if your host also runs your email. - Your own Cloudflare account. Add the domain to Cloudflare and enter the two nameservers it gives you.
- AWS Route 53 for businesses already running on Amazon Web Services. Create a hosted zone and use its four nameservers.
How long do DNS changes take for .gy domains?
With free Register.gy DNS, record changes go live within minutes. Nameserver changes are applied at the .gy registry within one business day; after that, most locations update within a few hours, and worldwide propagation can take up to 48 hours.
Can I use Cloudflare with a .gy domain?
Yes. Register.gy’s free DNS runs on Cloudflare, so you get Cloudflare’s network without setting up an account. You can also use your own Cloudflare account by entering its nameservers.
How many nameservers does a .gy domain need?
